Increase your crimson cup, Grown-ish followers, as a result of it is time to say goodbye! ET is completely debuting the trailer for the second half of the Freeform collection’ last season.
Season 6B picks up proper the place the primary half left off, with franchise stars Marcus Scribner and Yara Shahidi reprising their function as Andre Johnson Jr. (aka Junior) and Zoey Johnson for the ultimate time. Shahidi introduced that season 6 could be the present’s final chapter in March 2023, two months after the collection was renewed. In a video posted to the collection’ YouTube web page, Shahidi defined that the Emmy-nominated Black-ish spinoff can even air its one hundredth episode through the last season.
“You guys have been with us since season 1, and it has been such an honor to play Zoey and grow up alongside her for the past nine years,” the 24-year-old mentioned within the video. “Your support over the last five seasons has really meant the world to us, the cast and crew, and we wanna take the time to thank you all for the love and support that has kept us going.”
She added, “And like I said, there’s still another season to go and trust me, it’s gonna be big.”
Grown-ish‘s ending marks the conclusion of creator and govt producer Kenya Barris’ -ish franchise. Black-ish ended after an eight-season run on ABC in April 2022. The prequel collection Mixed-ish aired for 2 seasons on ABC between 2019 and 2021, and though Barris spoke of plans for an Old-ish spinoff starring Laurence Fishburne and Jenifer Lewis, it in the end did not transfer ahead.
Barris mentioned in a press release on the time, “We’ve spent nearly a decade telling our stories through the -ish series and to say it has been an amazing journey would be an understatement. To be able to watch Yara, Marcus and our entire Grown-ish family grow up in front of (and in many ways alongside) us over these past several years has been both a joy and an honor. From the stories we’ve told to the talent we’ve fostered and, most importantly, the memories made, I could not be more proud of everything we’ve accomplished and the -ish family I’ve been a part of.”
Final April, ET spoke to Shahidi on the premiere of her new movie, Peter Pan and Wendy, the place she dished on the present coming to an finish this summer time with its sixth season.
“I mean, we hit 100 episodes. Shows don’t get to do that anymore,” Shahidi mentioned. “So, I think it’s bitter, but primarily sweet, because we got to tell a lot of story, and I’ve gotten to be a lot of Zoey over the past six years.”
Scriber echoed her sentiment when talking to ET forward of season 6’s premiere.
“I’ve been playing this character for 10 years; he’s a great guy, I love the dude. And I’m excited for where Junior has been able to take things,” he shared. “I never could have imagined when we started black-ish that this is where the character would end up. So I’m very thankful and just happy with where he’s gone, and I’m like, ‘OK, it’s time to say goodbye.'”
Regardless of a mature method to the top of the highway, Scribner admitted that he is “gonna be sad” when all is claimed and finished. “I’m gonna miss my crew, my cast, the people that I’ve known for years and years [who have] become like a family to me at this point,” he added. “It feels like I’m graduating again.”
Season 6B of Grown-ish premieres March 27 at 10 p.m. ET on Freeform and streams the following day on Hulu.
